To be able to communicate well in French though, you have to have confidence. Confidence affects your manner of speaking and it is in turn influenced by your mastery of the language. There is no quick-and-easy formula for acquiring that French fluency and accent. Here are some things that you can try when you want to learn how to speak French.
Practice French:
It isn’t easy to use French in conversation, since people would scoff at the sight of a non-French speaking the language in a non-French-speaking country. And no, you don’t have to resort talking to yourself. What you can do is try to imagine yourself in conversation and write it down. If you do not aspire to be that creative, you can try writing articles instead.

You have to know what sounds have diphthongs and nasal sounds. If you get sick of saying them out loud, try setting them to a catchy tune and sing them!

There are also some learn French software programs that have audio tools that can aid you in learning French pronunciation and accent.
An alternative is watching French television shows and movies. You might not be able to understand everything but you are bound to pick up a word here and there. After all, it is important to learn the language’s speech rhythm when you really want to learn how to speak French. You can listen to French music. Some people find it easier to remember how a word is pronounced when they keep on hearing it as part of a melody.
Immersion:
In order to learn how to speak French, you have to immerse yourself in, well, French. The best way to do this is to visit countries with a French-speaking population. Think Quebec, Paris and Switzerland. However, not everybody gets the chance to visit these exotic places.
An alternative to this is immersion through ‘living’ with the French language. Try to use French whenever and wherever possible. No, you do not have to order for pizza in French. Making a to-do list? Write it in French and think of the chores you have to do in French. You can also Record French news audio and video materials on your iPod so that you can learn even while you’re on the bus or practically anywhere.
To build your confidence, try finding an online practice buddy. Working on your conversational French by engaging in regular chat sessions via Skype or other chat applications can really help a lot when you want to learn how to speak French.
The French language is rather like French wine, it is better when it rolls on your tongue so start saying those French words out loud and work your way to that French accent in no time.
